Craig Smith has released an iPhone version of Frotz. It is a program based on Infocom’s original Z-machine game engine which powered various popular text adventure games such as the Zork trilogy. Text adventure games or interactive fiction was popular in the 1970’s and 1980’s when computers had limited graphical capabilities. But these games are still being developed and played. Frotz on iPhone enables users to both find and play many of these games. Frotz comes already loaded with some public domain games such as the original Zork. Frotz is now available at the app store. It is a free 7.2 MB download.
